10 days! here I am!

so it's been a hectic week.. I worked last Saturday.. i hate working Saturdays.
she was on my case quite a bit last weekend.. I was doing things I don't normally do..
and things I don't like to do..

it was a 10-hour day. & that left me with a 1-day weekend (Sunday)
I helped load trash. and I helped load up our antique desk. 2 big loads out.of.this.house!!
also started trying to organize the 'pink' room -- this will be our hydroponic garden 'extension'.

Monday kennels, no boarders. so arrived at 8:50, helped open up shop, then fed birds in the aviary.
did desk work as no appts to be had. we did have 3 appts made that morning.
1 chihuahua mix with an ingrown toe nail.
1 jack russell with the major itchy scratchies.
1 senior kitty recently adopted and seemingly going blind.

Tuesday was another day of no appointments.. and 5 new appts made that morning.
we had a walk-in emergency.. Monday's chi cousin, attacked by big dog.
pit-bull in kidney failure 😢
monster puppy for vaccine and pedicure
cooper's hawk with broken wing 😭
senior labrador with the itchy scratchies

hooray for Wednesday and not working..
more time on the pink room, while Ron worked on the greenhouse
could not rest up enough that day to prepare for Thursday

Thursday.. what a day.
11 morning appointments and 6 afternoon appointments..
aren't we in the middle of a construction zone?
aren't we supposed to 'not be in the building'?
hmm.. hectic day..
oh and an incoming boarder who wasn't originally on schedule..

Friday was calmer.. thankfully..
the one (surprise) boarder went home..
4 morning appointments.. 3 of which were admits to be done throughout the day..
attempted to catch up with paperwork for dea and inventory..
all while cleaning up during construction ((moving cabinets.. moving supplies.. etc))

Saturday!! lovely Saturday!!
I put up shade cloth for the chickens..
probably should have done that towards the start of summer, not the end.
discovered a black widow spider on their pen fencing..
seen the web but never the spider -- until now..
not sure what to do next.
our final boarders are supposed to go home today, so I should be off Monday
3-day weekend!
but then I'll be working Wednesday, so 4-day work week..
but next weekend is also supposed to be a 3-day weekend..

I'll see as the schedule seems to change day-to-day according to construction
although.. the workers weren't even there the last 2 days.. 😶
from what I hear, not there today.. not there tomorrow.. and not there Monday (holiday)

boy oh boy.. I just seem to post every 10 days -- only

anyhoo.. LAST weekend seemed pretty normal and non-eventful.
i worked in the yard like i do every saturday.. picking up poops, tending to chickens..
i started hacking off the big green bushes in the yard because they were overgrowing the walkway.
then i wondered.. i had never looked up what they were..
i grabbed my phone, snapped a pic, checked plantsnap..
ragweed...
ragweed?!?!?
one of the most allergy-causing plants in our backyard?!?!?
and did i mention that ronnie has had a rash for a few weeks?!?
SO.. out the bushes came..
all our greenery in the backyard.. gone
back to a barren deserted yard once again..

sunday back to a typical day in the yard.. chickens.. dog poop..
dogs follow me in and out of the house a hundred times a day..
dude has started becoming obsessed with the water tank..
i eventually determined it was a lizard, NOT a snake..
charlie and gwen followed suit..
later in the afternoon, they were out there barking and barking.
we went out to discover it was not the water tank they were obsessed with
they had pulled a pipe out of the stack behind the greenhouse.. pulled out into the middle of the walkway..
another squirrel.. chirping in distress.. we've been through this before..
or have we?
upon trying to rescue the squirrel and release through the fence, gwen grabbed the tail and pulled him loose. then charlie and gwen BOTH tried to help him (her?) were finally able to get them to release and squirrel had a gash behind his left ear and over his eye. brought the dogs in the house to get them away from it. poor squirrel had tried to crawl away.. then flopped onto it's side.
i grabbed the squirrel to dispose of it, thinking it had died.
i scooped and it propped itself up!
carefully carried to a bush across the street, in the shade.
15 minutes later it had turned around facing the other direction..
20 minutes more it was gone.. farewell little squirrel

wednesday I so can't remember.. try as i might -- it is gone..
we got new plants, and transplanted some others.. overall a good day..

work is never fun.. appts, appts, blah, blah, blah.. surgery, surgery, appt, appt, appt..

saturday was a busy day. i try to catch up on cleaning and chores.  i never fully catch up, but i don't accomplish part of what i set out to do..
sunday got a fish tank for our hydroponics.. going to rearrange some rooms, empty the greenhouse (to actually use as a greenhouse) and unload a bunch of crap we really don't need..

last week.. well few weeks ago.. we had a leak at work.. random puddle of water on the floor in a room we rarely use. few minutes later, the puddle was back. lo and behold, there is a MAJOR leak, behind an important wall, destroying a large piece of furniture..
we will be closed next week so..
looks like i'll be getting a bit of a vacation after all 😁

Wednesday Wednesday WedNesDay!!

ha!  it's been over a week since I last wrote..
and I always think about it.. think what I'll write when I get home..
I get home, and try to relax first.. and then it turns into a week and a half again!

last week.. was sorta hectic.
Monday I had to help with appointments.. and Friday I had to help with appointments..

Monday became a "she's busy at the moment.. and she is cover for <the first> her.. so you have to get the next appointment in".
and I always do it wrong..
but my job isn't one of those "you're bad at it, so you're not allowed to do it".
no, my job is one of those "you're bad at it.. so you need to do it ALL.THE.TIME!"

Tuesday and Thursday I don't remember much of.. nothing really exciting must have happened..
but then Friday, again the appointments.. I took pretty much every other appointment (thankfully it was not a big day of exams.. mostly vaccines. which meant I <should> have had practice at rattling off vaccine reactions.. but no.. not really..)

my last appointment of the day was a big big baby shepherd ((85 lbs of big, and only 7 months)). his previous appointment had been his first-ever appointment because 1 ear was bothering him. the doc did a full exam which included checking both ears -- and both ears were horribly dirty. supposedly he had caused mayhem at that appointment.

this appointment was after the owner had been cleaning, to check his progress. he was a very wiggly shepherd, so the doc asked for reinforcements. I held the front, the reinforcer held the 'rear'. he refused to let me hold his head. he wriggled and tried to snap so the doc grabbed a mouth bracelet/muzzle. I still could not hold his head so I tried a more 'minimal' approach and she was able to poke a bit at the outside of his ear. the doc turned to tell the owner he would need "happy drugs" for a perfect exam. that is the same time that he threw his head backwards -- into my lower lip. the 'reinforcer' heard the hit. I did not. but I felt it. oh, boy, did I feel it. she thought I had cut clean through my lip. no, not really. just a nasty cut both inside and outside.. I thought I could handle it.. but it REALLY hurt. I went into the bathroom to check the damage -- my front teeth were so bloody, I thought he'd knocked 'em loose. he had not but both cuts instantly swelled. I sat down with an ice pack for almost 2 hours.. & filled out an accident report. then I went home and used another ice pack.

I'm beginning to get more and more "gun shy" at work..
a dog kicks me..
a cat bites me..
a dog head bonks me..
I'd REALLY like my desk job now, please! please!?
