March 22nd

busy busy day.. I slept until almost 9:30 since I was up so late last night..

I didn't do much of anything at first.. but then I decided to tackle the back yard.. poops and leaves and feathers..
filled 3 (kitchen sized) trash bags.. plus pulled a water sogged bag out of the small brown poop cart. it's brown — it should be for poops.. it just needs to be stored OUT of the weather so rain and snow aren’t an issue.
the chickens laid 3 eggs on Monday and 5 (FIVE!) eggs today! holy smokes! I'll need to get my egg boxes out.. it is definitely spring now!
I have a huge bruise on my outer thigh left leg, plus a bruise on the front of each thigh.. that's downright painful! we had a dog Monday night who a)had separation anxiety and b) did NOT approve of his anal expression.. front claws pulling to get away. 😬
then I tackled the kitty bathroom. I really haven’t kept up on that - and I think she’s peeing behind the couch 😡🤬🤦‍♀️ I cleaned both boxes and swept floor around the boxes, but I really need to do more in there.
actually was going a little stir crazy thinking of all the things I should catch up on. I need to do those things on my 3-day week at the start of every month. these 1-day things don’t really give time to accomplish AND rest.

March 21st

we went to bed 11:27.. but we were still awake after 12:30 😏

I had dreams of work.. both Avon and MAVH.  I had a dream I’d forgotten to order catalogs for campaign 8 but turned out they didn’t print any for the whole campaign- and then I woke up to an email in my inbox that their prices had increased on catalogs in campaign 8.. it was a foreshadowing that I didn’t even know about.  my other dream was of still being stuck at work at 9:30 and trying to escape.. there had been 2 white dogs for surgery but I thought there was only 1 and information on surgery hadn’t been updated so that delayed the process.. those 2 dogs ended up being our first appointments of the day.. blood pull and vaccines for him, plus vaccine for her. I was scratching his forehead to distract while they tried to pull blood and I made a mark on his skin— well, the owner was convinced he’d bumped his head and Dc had to show the owner that there is nowhere for him to bump. the dog is such a panicky dog that the owner was sure he’d regress from this. he didn’t believe that it was a simply petting type of scratching. I don’t know if he was ever reassured.

then we had another helicopter parent with dog. there is no perfect way to hold the dog as the owner kicks down anything we try. can’t hold his throat. and can’t squeeze his butt. BUT the owner will just pick him up and almost throw him in your arms, as that is “okay” 🤨 we also pulled blood which wouldn’t have been her approved method of hold. she wanted us to do it in the room but that wasn’t allowed. I thought she might pitch a fit for that as well. last week she wanted dc to look as his peepee and hear his heart. I had suggested she schedule an exam as she was squeezed between appointments and we wouldn’t be able to do an exam today.. she said “or yeah we’ll just die. I didn’t expect her too.” you are not the only appt. we are so fully booked it’s ridiculous. 🤬

We are overstocked on Purina low-fat, so it overflowed onto the shelf for RC low-fat.. but we are also overstocked on RC low-fat.. I feel like the toilet paper hoards.. or gas (fuel) hoards.. we run out of room to store it, and coworkers reorder thinking it’s gone, when it’s actually also stored elsewhere.

a coworker brought in a boarding dog because she might have eaten/swallowed a foxtail. so they did surgery at 8pm.. which meant I had to wait to get all my remaining files for Wednesday appointments. hooray.

I worked on 3 afternoon appointments because ‘previously mentioned’ coworker takes 2 hour lunch breaks (the rest of us get 30 minutes.  and it is always noticed if we go past our 30 minutes…)

I was hoping to get out between 8:30 and 9:00, or by 9:30 at the latest.. nope. I grabbed all the trash (my daily chore) then once I got inside from putting the recycle can at the curb, the ‘previously mentioned coworker’ asks about the poop in a glove on the counter. I tossed that! so had to grab the trash bag out of the van — and go to the very bottom to find it, because it was the 2nd thing I’d tossed out of the whole entire hospital. 🤬

by then the doctor was done with one of the 2 files I needed.. so I worked on that file. then I tried to catch up on drug logs but the surgery from today was never entered into the computer.. so that will be for another day.. when I’m trying to catch up on out-of-order logs.. and find files to account for the miscalculations 🤦‍♀️

March 19th

today I was up at 8am.. showered and washed my hair.
I had wanted to do it last night.. but too tired and too late.

grabbed 2 water bottles out of my car, and then quickly took my vitamins.

gave the doggies their extra meal for breakfast instead of lunch..
packed the waters for us, and my i.d. + med card..
and off we went to the Tejon Ranch Conservancy office for a private tour with work.

we had a bumpy ride for the latest lookout..
and it was COLD and WINDY but I really had fun.
wish I'd taken more pictures.. many more..
the lupines.. the pronghorn..

once home, we were ready for a nap - of course, the doggies wanted to play because they hadn't seen us in a thousand forevers.

March 5th

oh boy.. woke up at 8:04.. JUMPED out of bed and got ready for work.. another bowl of cereal with yogurt (this time honey flavor).. more snow, but thankfully nothing was sticking.. I had no time to check on the chickens but I fed the cats and left..
I got to work at the same time as the cardiologist.. we all hit the ground running..
we had a few assistants today.. our girl Katie from SJVC.. trainee Sarah from FPHS.. and then a new assistant Amber (who can only help weekends)..
Katie was all hands on! she did a blood pull, and learned a urine pull and always willing to help out.
trainee Sarah wasn't there for long. Diana said she was very on edge all day.. and then when it started snowing, she went into panic and called her mom.
Amber was in the file room all day, pulling our inactives (I became of the "inactives" since I haven't been a 'client' in almost 4 years.. I didn't say a word) 😁

March 4th

I was really dreading this morning. I feel like I never slept all night.. maybe a snippet of a snooze here or there.. no solid deep sleep.

I lay in bed as long as possible.. THEN I looked outside to a blanket of snow 🤦 oh great..
so I got up and put cereal and blackcherry yogurt in a bowl.. that is VERY slow to eat..

I didn't leave the house until 8:40 & got to work 8:57..
I never got to check chickens for eggs, but did feed both kitties..

first appt was blood pull (our surgery was already in back so I hadn't helped with that one), then helped hold a dog for progress exam, and suture removal.
we had 1 dog and 3 cats from 1 family (I didn't help with that)
I worked on 3 wily dogs for nail trims and vaccines, 2 of those were anal expressions, and then one of the 2 was an exam as well.

next I started on all the insurance faxes.. I got 2/3 of the way by lunch but still need to write them all in the insurance log.

after lunch, finished my insurance faxes.. started working on the prescription requests and record requests..
I got interrupted a couple times as appointments came on, nobody to call them in, and reception area getting full (and LOUD!)
thankfully Diana had pulled files for tomorrow, so I just had to prepare them (and find the few stragglers)
we had TWO walk-ins.
one was a dog who had been vomiting since yesterday, including prayer position and loss of appetite.. this was an exam that I got in. originally thought I was getting them in a room and someone would take over - nope did the whole history plus held for the whole exam. the following care and treatment was taken over by someone else.
the other was a dog passing through the area, who had been to both AEUC and BVH because he was hit by a car this morning (already had a concussion yesterday, don't know how) and both prior vet offices had not sent home any pain meds..
the second appointment that I got in was a progress exam.. I removed his bandage, then I held him for labs and vaccines..
then back to prescriptions and prepping files for tomorrow..

clocked out at 10 on the nose, 12.5 hours exactly..

thankfully there was no snow on my drive home tonight but tomorrow will be a "fun-filled* day of snow.. (it comes at 1am)  😣

March 3rd

up early.. again.. I think I was more awake than asleep all night long. I had several short snippets of dreams, short stories that lasted hardly any time at all. tossed and turned all night 😣

the chickens laid 2 eggs today.. one blue and one Bleu.. I'll give 'em a treat in a little bit.. they still have some papaya left..
planted the papaya seeds in a front yard.. it took awhile to find a spot.. cherry tree roots all over..

a wonderful egg and chicken grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast.

4 episodes of House
3 strips of RedVines

cleaned 3 toilets.. and 2 cat boxes.. what next??

March 2nd

he got up at 6:50.. but we went to bed at 11:40 so I was not ready then.. my head was pounding and spinning..
doggies went bonkers when he came down at 8:15 for class -- again, pounding and spinning but I 'regulated' as I lay there for another half hour..

crawled up the stairs and grabbed my phone - sat for a bit..
then went out to check on chickens once I knew his class was closer to done..
3 eggs = 2 blue + 1 bleu 😉
then I went on fb to update the current blog and email with the new Avon campaign catalog..

just Facebooked the rest of the day..
he washed pee pads, and I washed last month's towels, while hanging this month's towels and décor.

trimmed all 3 doggies. first the Charlie.. then the Dude.. lastly the Gwen.
I did their bodies at a 6mm and a 2.0.. then the boy's toes and 'sideburn' at the 2.0

I saved papaya seeds to plant in the front yard near the cherry tree.. then gave the papaya to the chickens.
I transplanted the aloe to a bigger pot, and planted some gojis in a small planter box.
