Jelly Beans -- chapter 1

February 26th, we had the surprise of our lives.. I heard a noise that woke me from my sleep at 11:33pm.. a squeakish sound. I reached out for Gwen -- perhaps she was having a nightmare? 
sometimes she would have coughing fits from lack of hydration..
sometimes she'd be panting from the heater being too high..
but this seemed different.. so maybe it was a dream..
uh, no. this was way more different..
put out my arm for her and felt 'wet'.. 'wet'? 11:33 at night? in bed?
I reached around the corner and turned on the bathroom light.
Gwen was cleaning a PUPPY!

let me backtrack.. almost a week before this.
i was brushing Gwen's mop top.. her messy afro.
i started trying to brush her chest and stomach.. she was gaining weight -- weight that we've tried for
a year to get her to gain.. finally.
2 days before this.. brushing her chest and stomach again -- milk! milk?! milk! is she prego?!
suspected as much, but did not realize HOW pregnant. she was not fat.. she only had slight boobs, still had a waistline..

jump ahead 2 days, and she's having puppies!
when I woke up.. she's cleaning a puppy -- her 2ND puppy! she had a boy, and was cleaning the girl. i
tied off the umbilicus.. get the scale to weigh the 2.. hour later, another boy.. hour later, another boy.. hour later, nothing.. 4, okay.. get her all settled..  puppies curled up with her.. adrenaline is wearing
off, we can all sleep again. hour later (2 hours after her last puppy) her last and final puppy.. little runt boy.

oh boy.. 5 puppies..
green boy -- 220grams
pink girl -- 273grams
blue boy -- 216grams
orange boy -- 255grams
yellow boy -- 188grams

They all saw their dr yesterday and will have another exam Monday (was just a prelim for the babies.. to check their starting weights)

she is a sneaky brat because we figured she MIGHT be pregnant on Sunday.. was NOT expecting puppies 2 days later!!

we had already planned to spay her in March so once we can she will be! 
(yes we do know the daddy, he is our other dog.. she wasn't THAT sneaky!)

so May 1st - somebody needs to start taking so puppies
