the longest work-week of the month :(

May 30th was bittersweet because it was my last lazy day.. my last day of freedom :/ 

May 31st I was back to work.. back to the chaos.. 19 appointments, with a brief lunch break at China Red House for lunch for CW bday.. but, HOORAY, Sarah is back!!  

June 1st.. feeling the pain of all the malinois on Wednesday.. lower back pain to show for it..
I shoveled the chicken's yard.. their ground is too hard and packed-down. so ended up with splinters on top of my back pain.. it was also shaving day for all the doggos.. took my time with that. I can do the boys on one charge - but my back would hurt.. and since it already hurts, why would I torture myself so.. I did CB first, then a bit of lazy.. then the Duders, and more lazy.. then plugged in for the Gwen.. then it was time for 'butts n toes'.. finished just as the sun was setting :P 

June 2nd.. oy.. ultrasonographer day.. so chest xrays and lab pulls between OUR appointments.. then holding a dog (or 2.. or 5..) for their tranquil injection..
why.don't.they.let.it.take.effect??
14 appts for us.. 6 for her.. and we had a euthanasia to start the day :( they drove all the way from Tehachapi - 2 hours away. the dog had back-to-back seizures starting at 3am.. 
we also did blood testing on 2 dogs, one is DCs, one is Sarah's.. testing for brucella due to a positive patient that we've all been exposed to..

June 3rd.. freedom! hooray! I LIVE for my days off! Critter got out in the a.m. and was hiding under the house - again.. we've been working on the water pipe and the trap door was uncovered.. that's her new favorite place now.. so I closed it once she came out.  I'm amazed she doesn't get covered in fiberglass from the insulation from going under there.. that pink panther stuff. 
we went through trash, loading up the car.. then I did a whole lot of nothing.. 
I never accomplish much on my 'first' day home.  

June 4th was another lazy lazy day.. I don't really leave the house much :) we went grocery shopping since that is the day his money comes in. otherwise.. it's just another movie day. i's donut day so I wanted to make a big 'donut' cake (ie bundt cake) but my bundt pan isn't the style that would work.. I need to get a regular, plain, boring, round so I'll be ready next time.

June 5th we had 21 appointments.. a stray siamese kitty who had been hanging around.. someone took her in and brought her for an appointment after her stray hold.. she's prego - at least 5 babies.. we estimate her to be only 10 months old herself, so still a baby herself. who knows how long she was out.. did she get out and get prego? did she get tossed out because she's prego? no owners ever came forward.. but she's sweet as pie so not a wild stray feral cat. she's had a home in her life. 
we also had 2 dobie dogs come in.. one is a pup with giardia (yay).. then his housemate who is calm as can be and probably wondering why mom brought home this whirling dervish..
after all appointments were done and gone, THEN I could start on files for the 55 appointments on Wednesday. thankfully Bob had pulled what files he could find, saved me that step.. it still made me the last one working though..

June 6th was movie day.. lazy day.. 'do nothing' day..

June 7th.. ugh.. dental hygienist day.. 55 appointments..
we ended up with another emergency, another rattlesnake bite, same family as the last one!
we also had an add-in for a dog from Bakersfield who isn't himself.. tender abdomen, and hasn't pooped.. also sweet as pie..
once all the appointments were done, I worked on files for Friday.. also had to fax ALL the hygienist invoices to insurance.. then there were requests for records to send elsewhere.. 
another day of being the last one working...
