September 27th
i slept horribly as usual..
had a difficult time getting up in the morning, but quickly ate a big bowl of cereal and went on my way. needed to get gas so detoured to don's since midway can be a bit talkative..
stopping for the red light my 'oil light' flickered.. didn't stall so i quickly pulled into don's for $25 in gas.
upon leaving don's and stopping for the red light -- again 'oil light' flickered..
made it all the way through frazier and into lebec. redlight in lebec was fine, no 'oil light'.
but.. pulling into work, had to stop for oncoming traffic.. again, the 'oil light' flickered.
quickly opened shop, and worked on the aviary..
our day started with an exam with labwork.. we needed to keep her for the day to complete labs.
we also had another little dog for exam.. she had been in an accident, and we did a follow-up.
a larger dog was admitted for the day.. she had an ear hematoma last week, and the owner had not taken her anywhere for care.
a few vaccines.. 1 puppy, 2 kitties..
we had our first euthanasia of the day.. a rat with 2 large tumors..
then 2 new clients, with new pets.. all 3 were dogs.
one owner had 2 LARGE breed puppies.
second owner had an elderly dog with osteosarcoma leg cancer.
I drove home for lunch.. was debating about it, but figured I'd rather my car break down during the day, than to be stuck in the dark after work. my car worked out fine when I left work. made it out of the parking lot, past the lebec redlight. but at the frazier park redlight again the 'oil light' flickered. never stalled, just that light. had a quick lunch and took the truck back to work. ronnie checked my car and found nothing out of the ordinary. he figured he'd order some parts. hopefully it would be an easy fix.
got back to work with no problems. mentioned it to sarah and she said her car had done similar when it was low on oil. so i emailed ronnie to let him know that -- maybe it was an even easier fix than we thought.
after lunch, came in as doctor was quickly spraying all door knobs and walkways.. she was also on the phone with and emergency vet's office. she had transferred the 2 large breed puppies as 1 was highly parvo positive.
then we had a little dog come in for exam and vaccine. the doctor is very allergic to cigarette smoke so we took the dog in back, instead of bringing them all into a room..
a puppy for a vaccine, and an older dog for a progress exam on a very bad ear infection.
another new client with new pet. she thought maybe she had eye infection and ear infection, but only had money for the exam.
another exam for follow-up to an emergency visit.
we had a young puppy for urinalysis.. adorable puppy, very wiggly.
our second euthanasia of the day, a cat who had surgery about a month ago.. was not improving - i felt bad for her though because she had run away for a week. she came home, and they brought her in to put her down :(
then 2 more puppy vaccines to end our day.
was happy to finally drive home after 9pm.. exhausting day..
pork with veggies and red beans.. was kinda dry so couldn't finish it :/
