today went okay.. I mean, it could have gone much worse. 
but I was lagging getting out of bed. I was far too comfortable. 
planned to get up around 7:30 to shower. Ronnie got up before 7 and that was far too early. 
next I knew it was 7:42.. whoops! time to get up!
 
shower and dressed. cleaned the crapload of poop.. grabbed a cup of coffee.. fed the cats.. and left

got to work 9:02 (for the 9:00 staff meeting). 
that went well. that's the normal topics every time. 
fixed all the date stamping I did not do on Tuesday.. told Cat what files I still needed
but she still needed to reprint a schedule as things may change (they usually do..)

stopped at DG for any quick pennies.. found one but didn't know it.
if I had, I'd have grabbed the whole lot.
might go back Saturday after work - probably won't have time tomorrow unfortunately.. 
I grabbed a couple more baskets for pet kits.. 
baby wipes for bathroom..
flag and holder for front yard (shoulda grabbed 2 holders..)
some aaa batteries (used last 2 on the thermostat)

stopped at Alice's for any pillows or Tupperwares.
found quite a few Tupperwares, but decided against them
got 2 pillows for the LR bed

was a lazy bum all afternoon..

I really have zero motivation on my days off .. I work 3 days and off 4 days.. 
so you'd think "hey, that's a lot of time off! most people only get 2 days" 
but I am a slug sloth vegetable on those days off
I've started doing little bits of cleaning here and there
but to see my house -- you'd never ever know it

I have bought new cleaning supplies and created new diy cleaning sprays.. 
and they are fantastic.. smell awesome.. clean great - - when I use them! 

I got up at 8:40 this a.m.  we both did.
we both didn't want to get up because it was COLD 'out there'. 
the heater was not on and we were toasty under all those winter covers.. fleece, flannel, thermal

he got up, let dogs out, uncovered the bird, went to the bathroom.
I got up, checked the heater before getting dressed
thermostat was OFF.. the heater wasn't off, the thermostat screen was OFF!
BLANK!

I got dressed QUICKLY and grabbed the face off the thermostat.
ran to the junk drawer and grabbed our last 2 AAA batteries..
then set the time while I ran it back to the thermostat -- the heater kicked on right away. 
I've been cold all day long now because I had such a frigid start to my day

he ate 2 eggs with rice -- I ate 2 eggs with ketchup. 
then I fed the cats and checked on the chickens.. 1 cold egg..
I had been soaking the oats and green peas since Monday. simmered a bit on the stove to soften.
also made a pile of raisins with garbanzo beans (that's for the chickens too)
then I prepared the dogs' food. 
-veggies and 'chicken' pedigree for Dude
-veggies and 'beef' pedigree and moist-n-meaty w/calorie gel and a chicken liver for Charlie
-veggies and 'bacon' pedigree and moist-n-meaty w/calorie gel and a chicken liver for Gwen
both Charlie and Gwen turned up their nose at the chicken liver.. Dude however was pleased to oblige.
took the chickens their slop and "felt" a bit to see who's laying.
as I reached she'd either squat or run.. my sweet singing grey-baby is my layer
I read a couple chapters of my book and back to my usual lazy self.

I did however get a baking bug today. 
took 1 Betty Crocker chocolate chip cookie mix -- strained all the chips out and then counted them..
yep.. I counted them.. 122 chocolate chips. 
then I set them aside and grabbed white chips and raisins out of the pantry. 
61 white chips.. 61 raisins.. 
split the powder mix in half..
split the butter quantity in half..
split the water quantity in half..
mixed each section individually and smooshed them into a muffin pan (makes perfectly round cookies)
they look a little funny because they didn't mix well.. but taste awesome!! 

my baking bug however was not over..

still thinking about all those apples on the counter..
and the apple pie that we decided we were not making.. 
found a recipe for baked apple and got to prepping. 
doubled the recipe because, well, we have lots of apples.. still only used 6 apples. 
1/2 c brown sugar, 1/2 c white sugar, 2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt.
in a ziploc baggie and shake! shake! shake! 
I used my Pampered Chef apple wedger and then cut each wedge in half.
into the baggie and shake! shake! shake! some more
poured that into the Pyrex casserole dish with 2 tablespoon of butter pats.
into the over at 350 degrees for 33 minutes and YUMMO!!!

the house smells magical! 
especially now that i remixed 2 squirt bottles of cleaner. 
1 is the 1cup vinegar, 1cup water, 6drops eucalyptus oil..
1 is the 1cup vinegar, 1cup water, 6drops 'serenity' (whatever that is.. just smells good)
sprayed the upstairs toilet with the eucalyptus spray and oh!my!gosh!
no.. it's good.. I promise

I was not in the mood to get up.
after being lazy and free for 4 days.. cold hard reality had to come back. 

I got up and dressed, weighed out at 143.8#
I had my breakfast, checked for chicken eggs, fed the critterbugg kitty..
then off to work I went.. with my coffee and choco protein, full canteen water, and a nutrigrain bar.

i clocked in and checked messages -- not too much to account for 👍

as our appointments started getting going, a phone call came in with an emergency.. argh..
then while we waited for them to show (took almost 3 hours) another call for another emergency.. ugh..
this is how our day will be going.. so it seems..

life wasn't all that bad.. got better.. 
the first emergency was a large friendly shepherd, and a small very UNfriendly beagle mix.. 
owners suspected they had ingested "pet-safe" rat poison -- pet safe? poison that is pet safe?
shepherd was seen bleeding from the mouth, beagle seen bleeding from the ear..
owners had recently put down rat bait but did not see the dogs eat any of it.. 
they had checked their property and basement, but found nothing bad/wrong..
dc didn't find anything bad/wrong in her exam either.. 
the beagle mix got an allergy shot..
otherwise it was just an exam, and an emergency fee for both.

second emergency was another large shepherd, fearful but friendly..
owner suspected he had something in his throat.. was doing a weird cough/wheeze..
was a client we hadn't seen since 2009.
when i tracked down profile, they were in collections. 
i advised dc of this, however when i called the collection company for balance due -- they wouldn't say..
that was 'classified' information that required client's authorization for release.. 
but isn't it our debt that they owe??
either way, it was resolved.. 
shepherd had some xrays.. but no sure cause.

a 3rd emergency came in just before our scheduled surgery started. small dog, anaphylactic shock.. 
unfortunately she did not make it.. by the time they arrived, she was d.o.a.
and no matter what dc tried, she was not revived.. 
the owners are not from this area (santa monica)
but they are related to an agent in lebec (so VERY local to the vet's office)

i pulled files for friday's appointments.. and prepared what i had found..
but was only missing 2 that dc has for writing in..
i realized once i got home late..
i didn't date stamp most of them..
and what i did stamp, might have been the wrong date..

the afternoon was mostly non-productive otherwise. 
i started pulling saturdays files to give me an easier time on friday 
of course, i only found 2..

it was a long long day however.. 12.88 hours..
so close to 13 hours, time was really weighing on me..

but happy surprise when i (finally) got home was seeing mr grey waiting for me on the doorstop
he was meowing and purring and trilling all in one. 
i don't usually feed him when i get home from work -- not during winter
although i probably should for warmth (burning calories and such..)
but he's not typically there when i get home, only rarely do i get to see him at night
but either way, i fed him because i knew he'd be hungry..
his food from sunday morning was still there at lunch today so i KNOW it wasn't fresh.. and yet he'd eaten it,
so i gave him a fresh can of yum yum beef food.. 

February 22nd 2021

another day off -- woo hoo! 
I slept longer than I had wanted to.. but I suppose it doesn't really truly matter. 
I checked on the chickens.
things are flying around the yard, and they are hiding in the coop.
they hadn't quite finished their pea oat schmoo so i just refilled rasin garbanzo in the afternoon. 
our internet is super crazy today -- so no movies for me, not until night-time.

because of our crazy internet, he had cancelled a class today. 
he uses his AT&T hot spot for class in emergencies.. 
but sometimes it's better to stop before you even start. 
he let a couple students know the issues in advance, to reschedule later in the week..
fingers crossed that day isn't a power outage, or more internet issues..

I've been reading my book - Zamba. got through 8 chapters (of 29)
perhaps I'll carry on with house cleaning and trash stuff..
things I should be doing when I'm spending all my time on the internet.. 

I broke down more boxes around here.. and cleaned up trash piles from the counter. our outside trash can is full, so I should have put that in the truck :(
I cleaned all 3 toilets, and emptied the litter boxes (they definitely needed it..)

the wind has been psycho since just after sunset yesterday - - all through the night..

Mr Grey never did come to eat his food.. I'm starting to get a little worried.
I fed him Saturday morning, but never did in the afternoon - - not the yummy good stuff.
sometimes he sulks over that but does come back the next day.. today would be the 'next day'.

today I wore the same thing I wore the last 2 days.. I have no life.. who's gonna know.. 
still at 142.4#  I kinda sorta starve myself on my days off.
I need the strength on workdays, but I don't use the calories on my days off..

tomorrow it will be really difficult to go back to work..
I've been spoiled with 4 days off.. 
you'd think I could have gone somewhere.. 
but he has class, he's had gout, we're kinda broke..
and I didn't know I'd have this 4th day..
so IF we went somewhere, we still would have been home half of yesterday and all of today.

I had planned to go to dollar general and alice's attic/dave's community thrift store. 
he had a class 10:30-11:00 and it would be a perfect time to go.. early, less crowds..
however, when he woke at 7:30, i was not ready to get up. i slept longer and had strange dreams..

it started out as a groundhog-day dream of reliving yesterday.. no different than it had happened.. and when i crawled into bed was when i rolled over and bonked into ronnie's forehead.. oops. he didn't even remember it this morning. 
after he got up, and i fell back to sleep, that dream was me being at work.. it was a friday (don't know when) and our scheduled surgery was cancelled because dc was having surgery on-site. something with her back.. or her shoulders.. 
she had tossed out a heinz set.. mustards, hot sauce, ketchups, bbq sauces.. i had tried to rescue them from the trash can and put them back into the box. i was originally at my apartment doing this, but then eventually at a race track. I had tried to climb the wall after running across the "live" track. I wasn't able to climb and was trying my hardest not to fall. someone had come to save me from falling, but then turned me in to employees there as 'suicide risk' -- as if i was trying to fall onto the track to be killed. I was hidden in a room under the stands, sitting on and tied to a creeper cart.. 
i had eventually escaped and was crawling on the ground trying to avoid those authorities keeping me locked away.. i had seen ronnie drive up, and i ran around to the long lines of people.. i caught up with him there in line for the king's game (wasn't i at a race track??) and was sneaking into the game with him. i woke up just as we were getting inside the arena. 

fed mr grey some food this am -- he wasn't there.. 
fed ms critterbugg as well and she was more than willing to come outside and steal mr grey's food as well.. i didn't let her

i soaked some oatmeal and green peas for the chickens.. no egg today.. not by 10am, not by 1pm, not by 3:30pm.. but all the chickens were very interested in their peas and oats. they like it better if i simmer it after soaking.. they don't like it raw. they ate it but it took them several days. if it's simmered they eat it within a day.

cleaned kitchen again. i don't keep up with it as i should, but better than most times that it would sit for days. cleaned the faucet and sink as well.. that i think will be my sunday task (if i can truly keep up on it)
also working on one bathroom.. hadn't done that in awhile and i got it looking pretty good. 
i really need to find some way to clean the guest bathroom -- the upstairs bathroom that we use most often. i really need to come up with the "yellow mellow/brown down" cleaner. it is the newest toilet, just a little over a year.. and it is yellow.. like yellow of yellow. i tried to bleach it, and that just turned the yellow into a bluegrey.. now it is yellow again plus the spots of bluegrey.. ugh.. 
I put white vinegar today to see if it would work. I read to leave it for 2-3 hours.. 
that is tricky because we pee within 2-3 hours, so it didn't exactly get to sit. 
but my cleaning spray is vinegar/water/eucalyptus essential oil.. so perhaps this is a 'thing'
the vinegar helped.. but it wasn't perfect. maybe the more i do it, it will get better.. maybe..

Ronnie's got a big fat foot.
I've been helping with tea and water.. and Tylenol. but I brought him the wrong meds.
he wanted the green anti-inflammatory.. I brought him the other green pill that made him sleep.. oops..

I used up another cookie dough pack. attempted to make cookie muffins -- but it just turn them into more perfectly rounded cookies the size of muffins.. another oops..

I got up early today.. up at 8:30, fed the cats. The chickens still had their garbanzos and peas. but I checked in and said 'hi'.
I took the cat trash to the truck.. took the inside trash to the outside can.. took the house trash to the truck.
I ran the dishwasher, and we went to the market for ebt food. been lazy otherwise.
I tried to clean the humidifier but it didn't work. still have the other one, but wanted to fix the original for more humidity.

ugh.. today I am still a zombie.. not in the mood for anything other than sleep sleep and more sleep
I got up because I can't stay in bed forever.. or can I??

I fed the cats around noon (or was it 1:00?) and fed the chickens just before that.

I brushed the Charlie Brown. I still need to get the sand bag from across the street..
and the mail. STILL need to get the mail from Thursday.. and Friday.. and Saturday..

I posted my doggie first kits.. last week. no one has taken a bite..
i refreshed the post.. i get 3 more tries. 
then i'll need to make a whole new post..

well.. today was supposed to be an interview with All Creatures Animal Hospital.. but I am that permanently-exhausted pigeon that's in all the memes. 
I would have had to leave 9am to get there by 10am. but I woke up at 8:57 after feeling (and probably looking) like I'd had zero sleep..
I "zombied" around for almost an hour still, and then fed cats and chickens..

we went to 'commodities' at the park today - hadn't been in December or January.. 
he drove down to pick up a number.. then came back home..
we went around 11:15 or 11:30 to grab chicken feed from Tecuya, then went to the park to sit and wait.
