Wednesday Wednesday WedNesDay!!
ha! it's been over a week since I last wrote..
and I always think about it.. think what I'll write when I get home..
I get home, and try to relax first.. and then it turns into a week and a half again!
last week.. was sorta hectic.
Monday I had to help with appointments.. and Friday I had to help with appointments..
Monday became a "she's busy at the moment.. and she is cover for <the first> her.. so you have to get the next appointment in".
and I always do it wrong..
but my job isn't one of those "you're bad at it, so you're not allowed to do it".
no, my job is one of those "you're bad at it.. so you need to do it ALL.THE.TIME!"
Tuesday and Thursday I don't remember much of.. nothing really exciting must have happened..
but then Friday, again the appointments.. I took pretty much every other appointment (thankfully it was not a big day of exams.. mostly vaccines. which meant I <should> have had practice at rattling off vaccine reactions.. but no.. not really..)
my last appointment of the day was a big big baby shepherd ((85 lbs of big, and only 7 months)). his previous appointment had been his first-ever appointment because 1 ear was bothering him. the doc did a full exam which included checking both ears -- and both ears were horribly dirty. supposedly he had caused mayhem at that appointment.
this appointment was after the owner had been cleaning, to check his progress. he was a very wiggly shepherd, so the doc asked for reinforcements. I held the front, the reinforcer held the 'rear'. he refused to let me hold his head. he wriggled and tried to snap so the doc grabbed a mouth bracelet/muzzle. I still could not hold his head so I tried a more 'minimal' approach and she was able to poke a bit at the outside of his ear. the doc turned to tell the owner he would need "happy drugs" for a perfect exam. that is the same time that he threw his head backwards -- into my lower lip. the 'reinforcer' heard the hit. I did not. but I felt it. oh, boy, did I feel it. she thought I had cut clean through my lip. no, not really. just a nasty cut both inside and outside.. I thought I could handle it.. but it REALLY hurt. I went into the bathroom to check the damage -- my front teeth were so bloody, I thought he'd knocked 'em loose. he had not but both cuts instantly swelled. I sat down with an ice pack for almost 2 hours.. & filled out an accident report. then I went home and used another ice pack.
I'm beginning to get more and more "gun shy" at work..
a dog kicks me..
a cat bites me..
a dog head bonks me..
I'd REALLY like my desk job now, please! please!?
