aHa! the star bread was a big hit!! I must make it again.
I wanted to get up at 7:30 to shower before work..
but then 7:30 came around and I didn't want to get up.. it is my day off, after all..
I got up at 8:10, dressed, heated up the baked apple, and re-wrapped the star bread.
I let the doggies outside, grabbed an egg from the box, fed the cats and gathered my things..
it worked out much better than I thought.
I had to feed Critter upstairs so she wouldn't go running past class meowing and complaining.
I took all my things downstairs and put them on the floor..
then went out and fed Mr Grey, so that I could have the door open wide enough to get my food out.
he was too busy eating to care about the open door.
and, yes, when I carried the food in, everyone looked to see what I'd brought, and they were thrilled I'd "re made" the baked apple -- I didn't really. we just hadn't actually eaten it, and it was preserved in the freezing fridge.
plus the star bread, it looked beautiful - - they voted I should be hired to make food for other meetings..
next I clocked out (after clocking in late because I forgot to clock in at all..)
then I headed to Dollar General. I bought random odds-and-ends..
didn't find any pennies, but did remember the AA batteries and neosporin..
plus 2 pepsi-zeros and some kitchen wipey rags and garden seeds..
at checkout I grabbed 4 Lindt candies - 2 white chocolate, 2 milk chocolate.
it was starting to snow as I left Dollar General
home sweet home by his 11:00 class so had to keep the maniac doggies quiet - - oh, what a feat.
I went outside to grab another chicken egg.. then got them settled inside on the couch.. another feat.
Innerspace (1987)
it snowed and snowed for awhile.. total white out.
I5 freeway was closed, escort only...
there was an accident on Cuddy Valley Road due to ice..
the One and Only Ivan (2020)
it still continued snowing for a few hours.
driving to work in the morning will be a fun adventure.
and I can't keep warm.. I was tempted to bake, to use the oven to heat the house..
but couldn't make up my mind what to bake - and I never bought milk.
however I still have pecan pie to finish (since the baked apple is happily at work)
I'm still not sure why my parents chose Simi Valley (?) I suppose it is because 2 sisters live there.. although one splits her time between Simi Valley and Kernville. DC said I should have them move up here.. doesn't exactly solve the issue of snow, and driving in it, and still being remote.. it would help with us being here.. we can help with shopping and delivering.. and visiting more often. but it does create an issue with getting to LA doctors and such.. so perhaps that is where the trouble really lies.
